There’s a special flair lying over this medieval town with its more than 1000 years lasting history. The cityscape is characterized by the Meißner Dom and the Abrechtsburg which is known as the first palace building in Germany. The historical centre wasn’t destroyed during the 2. World War and is gregoriously restored. The market place (Heinrichsplatz) with its view upon the Frauenkirche (Church) having a Glockenspiel made out of Meißner porcelaine really invites for having a rest. Particularly beautiful is a city-tour (hop-on-hop off) with a little bus that fits through all the small alleys and a driver who tells the story about Meißen. Marvellous vintage pur. Absolutely impressive is a visit of the famous porcelaine Manufactury >Meissen< (since 1710) where you find the „art of porcelaine“ and also learn about the traditional handcrafting: from a mixture of the components Kaolin, Feldspat and Quarz to premium Meissner Porcelaine. Also Meissen Couture and the Jewellery Collection invites to buy. Do not hesitate to visit Meißen beside the Highlights Dresden and Leipzig – you will surely love it!
