It is a bit like this with the heading: “Slim without sport”. You immediately think: “Oops, did I miss something new to know? Or is the wish part of hope to loose weight without diet or getting more beautiful if we just eat the „right“ food? It’s not that simple and I don’t want anyone to believe it.

Nevertheless, a healthy diet can make an enormous contribution to personal well-being and indeed helps against aging. The fact, that garlic keeps the blood, heart and blood vessels healthy is already proven and is also considered as a preventative measure against calcification of the arteries. Ginger is also believed to have a healing effect. Many swear as tea against the common cold. In fact the spicy substances in the ginger help against nausea and vomiting. But now to the fruits that may be able to do more than we previously thought possible.  Keyword: antioxidants.

Mangos

Antioxidants we need to protect our cells from harmful influences (pollution, smoking, alcohol, etc.) and to slow down skin aging.  They are found in many foods, more precisely in vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals.  Since the mango is a first-class supplier of vitamin C (1 cup covers more than three-quarters of the daily requirement), the delicious fruit is said to boost the collagen production in addition to the antioxidant effect.  So a beautifier after all!  The top vitamin C suppliers include: citrus fruits, broccoli and kale.

For the small hunger: Spread 2 tablespoons of goat cheese on one half of a wheat tortilla and top it with 1 cup of sliced mango.  Spread 1 tablespoon of diced red onion and 1 tablespoon of chopped coriander on top.  Roll up the tortilla and fry in a pan until crispy.

Cantaloupe

Cantaloupe is a good source of potassium and can help fight osteoporosis (loss of bone density).  The important mineral contributes decisively to the regulation of the water and acid base balance in our body.  If we lack potassium, acid-neutralizing compounds are pulled out of the bones and can reduce their strength.  Even a cup of this melon contains as much potassium as a banana.

Side salad: Cut approx. ½ cantaloupe into cubes.  Add 1 pg. Mozzarella balls and plenty of basil.  Season with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  This salad goes well with grilled poultry.

Raspberries

Raspberries have very few calories and provide an enormous amount of fiber.  Dietary fiber is plant fiber that humans can only digest to a limited extent.  Since they bind water and thus enlarge the intestinal contents, they stimulate the intestinal activity and at the same time keep you full for a long time.  A cup of the delicious fruit contains about twice as much fiber as a cup of cooked oatmeal.  One study even found that 30 grams of fiber per day can have a weight-reducing effect, i.e.  like a diet.  So let’s melt the pounds away with raspberries.

Snack: 1 cup raspberries with 1 cup ricotta and 1 tbsp icing sugar and a little grated lemon zest, stir into a creamy dip and serve with a cut pear.

Plums

Plums contain the most powerful of all antioxidants – so called anthocyanins – which are supposed to protect our cells from aging and degeneration (cancer).  They come in blue, purple, red or blue-black vegetables and fruits.  According to a Harvard study, regular consumption is even said to reduce the risk of heart attack.  Particularly high amounts of anthocyanins can also be found in red cabbage and the Acai berries.

Breakfast: Spread butter on a slice of toast and top with a letter from sliced plums.  Spread 1 teaspoon of honey and a pinch of cinnamon over it.  A sweet and savory breakfast is ready.

In case you’ve got no time just mix the above mentioned fruits an get a wonderful smoothie!
